Getting paid for reading the campaigns?

Ah! well introduced inadvertently by a friend to this gingerly startup’s efforts :D, I now keep getting some-good, some-vain campaigns to read on mah mobile….sometimes about getting rented movies (now which one was dat.. guess it was seventymm something), then bout getting 50% off on some designer jewellery, low-rate flying, and medical insurance….etc etc….

oh ok… well going back to something I was reading about Chaitanya’s baby mGinger, a garage startup, introduced solicited mobile advertising services in India based on social networking. In a short span of time the company has near 1 million users whom it pays for reading the campaigns. The services are being offered across the country over all major cellular operators.

Well, permission based advertising is in-vogue.. eh!

Well! its the idea that matters…. and the idea that clicks with the masses that sells…. 🙂

Well, if nothing else, working with startups connects me with one more 🙂 – with the entire burden on your tender shoulders, the risks, the zeal, hmmm… nostalgic… 🙂

A Cup of Tea

Nan-in, a Japanese master during the Meiji era (1868-1912), received a university professor who came to inquire about Zen.

Nan-in served tea. He poured his visitor’s cup full, and then kept on pouring.

The professor watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. “It is overfull. No more will go in!”

“Like this cup,” Nan-in said, “you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?”

If You Love, Love Openly

Twenty monks and one nun, who was named Eshun, were practicing meditation with a certain Zen master.

Eshun was very pretty even though her head was shaved and her dress plain. Several monks secretly fell in love with her. One of them wrote her a love letter, insisting upon a private meeting.

Eshun did not reply. The following day the master gave a lecture to the group, and when it was over, Eshun arose. Addressing the one who had written her, she said: “If you really love me so much, come and embrace me now.”

Peony Nebula Star

Is this not just Beeeeutiful! WOW!
It looks like a rangoli in space 😀

If our galaxy were to host its own version of the Olympics, the title for the brightest known star would go to a massive star called Eta Carina. However, a new runner-up, now the second-brightest star in our galaxy, has been discovered in the galaxy’s dusty and frenzied interior. This image from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope shows the new silver medalist, circled in the inset above, in the central region of our Milky Way.

Dubbed the Peony nebula star, this blazing ball of gas shines with the equivalent light of 3.2 million suns. The reigning champ, Eta Carina, produces the equivalent of 4.7 million suns worth of light. However, astronomers say these estimates are uncertain, and it’s possible that the Peony nebula star could be even brighter than Eta Carina.

If the Peony star is so bright, why doesn’t it stand out more in this view? The answer is dust. This star is located in a very dusty region jam packed with stars. In fact, there could be other super bright stars still hidden deep in the stellar crowd. Spitzer’s infrared eyes allowed it to pierce the dust and assess the Peony nebula star’s true brightness. Likewise, infrared data from the European Southern Observatory’s New Tech

God is great – He only wants happiness for His children

Pray big. Think big. Your life is going to be in proportion to how greatly you believe. Jesus said, “Anything is possible

for someone who has faith”

Which means what? That the person who believes is going to get everything he wants? No. What Jesus meant is that, if you believe

big, you move things out of the realm of the impossible into the realm of the possible.

Believe little, you get little. So believe big and open yourself up to all the possibilities that God has in mind for you.

God is great – He only wants happiness for His children. We just don’t go to Him. So Go to Him.

Before sleeping, say sorry for anything wrong we did, and thank Him for His kindness.

If with all your heart you give yourself to your children, to your marriage, to your work, to your future, and to your hopes, you

are going to live a big and rewarding life.

Commit a favorite hymn to memory and sing it out in the shower! Compose your soul every night by asking the Lord to forgive you for any wrong you have done.

Then thank him for his goodness. A quiet joy will steal into your soul. You will sleep peacefully and rise up the next day renewed.

world’s happiest friends

The world’s happiest friends never have the same characters… they just have the best understanding of their differences.

People work towards what they want in life. They have to!
So simple-a-statement… but extremely true and powerful!

Never hate the times in life where you have fallen or failed.

Though hard to accept, these are the times wherein we stand up and show the world that failures dont define us.
But it is what makes us stronger.

Its in the times of sadness, and trouble, that you know who is your real, true friend…..
Am feeling blue…. want you to get well soon mom !

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

A favorite book, The Alchemist, written by Paulo Coelho, is a beautiful fable about following your dreams.

I love this book, and really felt like posting some snippets here…..

Om Shanti Om (a not-so-old bollywood stupidly, funny masala movie) 😀 literally took some quotes from this book I guess…..

  • “Every search begins with beginners luck and ends with the victor’s being severely tested.”
  • “The boy and his heart had become friends, and neither was capable now of betraying the other.”
  • “When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision. “
  • “Intuition is really a sudden immersion of the soul into the universal current of life.”
  • “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
  • “Courage is the quality most essential to understanding the Language of the World. “
  • “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
  • “When you want something with all your heart, that’s when you are closest to the Soul of the World. It’s always a positive force.”
  • “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
  • “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
  • “When you are in love, things make even more sense, he thought.”
  • “To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only obligation.”
  • “I don’t live in either my past or my future. I’m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you’ll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we’re living now.”
  • “When you are loved, you can do anything in creation. When you are loved, there’s no need at all to understand what’s happening, because everything happens within you.”
  • “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”
  • Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.” You’ve got to find the treasure, so that everything you have learned along the way can make sense. “
  • “All you have to do is contemplate a simple grain of sand, and you will see in it all the marvels of creation. Listen to your heart. It knows all things, because it came from the Soul of the World, and it will one day return there.”
  • “In his pursuit of the dream, he was being constantly subjected to tests of his persistence and courage. So he could not be hasty, nor impatient. If he pushed forward impulsively, he would fail to see the signs and omens left by God along his path.”
  • “The alchemists spent years in their laboratories, observing the fire that purified the metals. They spent so much time close to the fire that gradually they gave up the vanities of the world. They discovered that the purification of the metals had led to a purification of themselves.”
  • “I learned that the world has a soul, and that whoever understands that soul can also understand the language of things. I learned that many alchemists realized their destinies, and wound up discovering the Soul of the World, the Philosopher’s Stone, and the Elixir of Life. But above all, I learned that these things are all so simple they could be written on the surface of an emerald.”

Education for all

Hats off! I love dis ad!:)

The power of Mobile telephony to address the socially relevant theme of education.
The thought-provoking ad campaign has Abhishek Bachchan playing the head of an educational institution. When challenged by the traditional, physically bound classroom methodology that prevents reaching out to many more who are in need of education, he uses mobile telephony to overcome the barrier.

Happy Friendship Day!

Ye na ho to, kya phir, bolo yeh zindagi hai

This is an amazing song by KK! I love it

Happy Friendship Day to you!

~~First Sunday of August every year is Friendship Day:)~~

Keep smiling 🙂

Thus speaks The Bible about the warmest of all bonds—friendship. The Bible, the most primary text of the western civilization, reflects upon friendship as the bond that forms the foundation to human faith, trust
and companionship. There are innumerable tales from the Old Testament as well as the New Testament about the value of friendship and how true friendship is a treasure to unearth. Both the versions make a difference between the two broad meanings of friendship—one is a mere acquaintance, the other is a more affectionate relation. These stories and examples have passed into western literary and cultural realms.

In the Old Testament Abraham is called the “friend of God” because of the intimacy of his relations. God speaks to Moses face to face “as a man…unto his friend” (Ex 33:11). The romantic friendship of Ruth and
Naomi, the devotion of the subordinate Hushai for David, or the mutual relation between David and Jonathan—the Old Testament is replete with these interesting tales of friendship.

In the New Testament, the relationship between Jesus and his disciples is the most primal example of how human friendship can constantly grow.

From being teacher and disciple to lord and servant their relationship finally grew to an unparalleled friendship.
